The drive to the temple reminded me alot of driving to Utah. It was windy and cold. We stayed at a Springhill Suites that was located in Thatcher 5 min. east of the temple. We checked in then headed over to the open house. The open house started at the meetinghouse right next to the temple. They showed a video of the purpose and history of the Gilla Valley Temple. Carson and Lacey weren't having it so I took them out where the kind volunteers gave Carson two cookies. That settled him down. He even shared with Lacey and she said "Tank" and gave the sign language for thank you.
The temple was beautiful inside. The kids behaved and we could really feel a great spirit in there. After the tour we went back to the church for cookies and water. Then went to take pictures in front of the temple. After we left we decided to drive through the towns. Lacey finally fell asleep for the first time during the trip. This was at 4:00.
I wanted to find a restaurant to eat at. We drove through Thatcher and Saford's main road....NOTHING!! So we had to resort to eat at the Denny's by our hotel. I am feeling queasy just writing about it!!
Back at the hotel we swam. The kids and Matt and I were extra tired. We finally turned off the lights at 8:00 to just GO TO BED!!! Poor Lacey wouldn't sleep in the pack n play and she slept in between Matt and I. She was tossing and turning all night! At 7am we woke up to Carson trying to wake up Shea and Lacey at the foot of our bed turned around.
It was a fun turn around trip and the drive only took about 3 1/2 hours. I am so glad I got to share this with my kids. Especially Shea because I think she was able to understand the temple better and what being married in the temple meant.
Swimming Saturday Morning....
